Hannes Beneke is a broiler farmer on Nylstroom and knew from the beginning: to measure is to know.

With high feed prices, Hannes thought it would be nice if broiler chickens could also turn grass into meat. Therefore, after purchasing his first Bonsmara cattle, he attended the course on performance testing at the ARC, of ​​which his herd was also an ARC finalist in the Limpopo region in 2011.

He registered for stud in the year 2000, the first few years he focused more on females and only then started to market bulls. He farms in the sourveld area up in the Waterberg mountains.

According to him, a performance tested and selected bull is an investment for any cattle farmer, but selection and record keeping among the heifers and cows is just as important.
